Trouble in Gamelan land

Looking forward to Gamelan Burat Wangi at Grand Performances in Downtown LA this evening. For the most part a free event. Downtown is not the most user friendly place on Earth, but I've heard there's worse. BUT... Event at Disney. Event at Dorothy. Appears to be an event at MOCA. A street event in Little Tokyo big enough to road block the streets. NO street parking but $12 parking more than six blocks away that includes a casual walk through downtown no-man's land. Bailed. Why do they create entertainment districts in crowded "undesirable" places surrounded by scary? It's worse than going to the mall. (- sigh -)
